bring into service

For an active family of five in Santa Monica, the full kitchen in their newly built residence was sufficient for food prep and storage. However, with three kids under five, they wanted to move the laundry room (previously on the ground floor) upstairs to be closer to the bedrooms. We decided to repurpose the laundry room into this service kitchen, which features wine and beverage refrigeration and an additional dishwasher, prep sink, and faucet to allow the clients two work stations near the dining room instead of one. Appliances were empaneled to provide a clean and unified look.

The bar height slab top is live edge walnut sourced locally in Santa Monica; the sconce light from Visual Comfort is recessed into a marble slab repurposed as a side splash, separating the service kitchen from the dining room.

The service kitchen is illuminated by a Malplaquet flush mount fixture from Urban Electric. The bar faucet is from the Metropole series by Newport Brass. Countertops and backsplash in marble.
